Counselling and Psychotherapy - Past, Present and Future

How have the psychotherapists of the past and the fathers of psychology influenced your practice? We will be visited by Freud, Jung, Rogers and others, and discuss how our history has shaped our present. We will also look at how we are shaping the future of our profession. Bring along your stories of what these influences mean to you. What parts of he past do you embrace or reject and how do you see the future of counselling and psychotherapy? In this session of open space a psychodrama exercise will be on offer as a way of connecting with those who have influenced our practice.

Psychotherapy and Counselling in Australia

How is psychotherapy in Australia different from psychotherapy and counselling in other countries? Given that much of the research in the past has taken place in other countries, how does this impact on our ideas around counselling and psychotherapy? What research is taking place here? Bring along journal articles, your experience and knowledge to share in a lively discussion on these issues.
