Canberra and Region Inc. (CAPACAR)
is a Member Organisation of PACFA.
Counselling and Psychotherapy Association Canberra and Region (CAPACAR) Inc. is a professional association of counsellors and psychotherapists based in the ACT and was established in 1994. Members of CAPACAR Inc. are professional counsellors and psychotherapists who work in organisations and in private practice. Our members practice a wide variety of counselling modalities and their specialties and areas of interest cover a broad spectrum of therapeutic issues and client groups.
From 1 July 2016, CAPACAR is planning to become part of PACFA and will no longer operate as a separate Association.
Under the new structure, CAPACAR members will be offered the opportunity to become individual members of PACFA and members of the new Canberra and Region Branch of PACFA from 1 July 2016.
Prospective new CAPACAR members
As we have now commenced the transition to the new structure, from 1 January 2016 CAPACAR is no longer taking membership applications.
CAPACAR recommends that prospective new members apply to become individual members of PACFA and of the Canberra and Region Branch of PACFA.
PACFA is now taking applications for membership the following membership categories:

PACFA membership includes:
- Membership of the Canberra and Region Branch of PACFA
- PACFA registration (for members in practising membership categories)
- Membership of a PACFA College
Current CAPACAR members
If you are currently a CAPACAR member, your membership of CAPACAR is valid until 30 June 2016.
During the transition period (1 January to 30 June 2016), CAPACAR members can still apply for a Leave of Absence from CAPACAR membership or to upgrade your membership level. These applications are still to be made directly to CAPACAR.
